About Us

We harness the unique appeal of football for the development of children.

Play Soccer Ghana is a sport for development organization that harnesses the unique appeal of football for the development of children. Established in 2001, Play Soccer Ghana partners with children living in conditions of poverty to develop them holistically into skilled, educated and capable adults, and to create real hope and lasting change using the unique appeal and power of football. The organisation’s head office is in the Oguaa Football for Hope Centre in Cape Coast.
The Centre houses an astro turf which has had a great patronage among children for learning through play. Within the Centre is a library and a computer lab. These have been useful in teaching numeracy, literacy and IT skills among young people

Play Soccer Ghana (PSG) is a member of the Play Soccer Network called the Play Soccer Non Profit International (PSNI) with six affiliated country organizations (USA, Cameroun, Malawi, Senegal, SouthAfrica and Zambia). Play Soccer Ghana started as the Network's first pilot programme and over the years it has expanded from a single site with 100 children to 2374 beneficiaries currently registered at thirteen (13) sites in six regions in Ghana.

Achievements

Play Soccer Ghana is recognized for the innovation "Playsoccernet" a goal net that is a re-use of plastics, and for mainstreaming waste sorting in daily management of waste within households. Other achievements of Play Soccer Ghana are the thousands of students who progressed from basic schools to grade A second cycle schools through our Kicking for Change and Homework Sessions education interventions, the hundreds of young people who are meaningfully engaged in various vocational enterprises through our Street League entrepreneurial programme, and the hundreds of young people including people with disability whose lives have been ‘turned around’ through various leadership trainings, and international youth summits and mentoring programmes.
